Three SNAP test cards with the highest one marked "best score counts"

You booked SNAP Test 1 and Test 2, and left Test 3 unchecked to save the fee. Now Test 1 is a week away, your mocks are hovering around 38, and you're wondering whether you should have booked all three, or whether you should skip Test 1 and "use it as practice".

SNAP is one of the few MBA exams that gives you more than one shot in the same season, and Symbiosis counts only your best score. Used well, the three tests take a lot of pressure off. Used badly, they turn into three average attempts. The difference comes down to how you plan each test and what you do in the days between them.

Quick answer: SNAP lets you take up to three tests in one admission cycle, and Symbiosis uses your highest score. Treat Test 1 as a real attempt with full preparation. Use Test 2 to fix the weakest section from Test 1. Take Test 3 only if your best score is still below your target, which for SIBM Pune is about 45 or more out of 60.

How the three SNAP attempts work

Rule What it means for you
Up to 3 tests per cycle You can sit SNAP up to three times in December
Best score counts Symbiosis uses your highest score; lower scores don't hurt
Each test is booked at registration You choose your tests and pay for each one when you register
Usually held in December Symbiosis publishes the test dates on snaptest.org

The practical meaning: a bad Test 1 costs you nothing except the fee and a little confidence, as long as a later test goes well.

The SNAP 2026 pattern you'll face in every test

SNAP changed its pattern for 2026 by adding an Ethics section.

Section Questions Marks
General English 10 10
Analytical and Logical Reasoning 20 20
Quantitative, DI and Data Sufficiency 20 20
Ethics, Morality and Values (new) 10 10
Total 60 60

60 minutes, no sectional time limits, +1 for a correct answer, −0.25 for a wrong one, no calculator. Sources: snaptest.org; Careers360 and Cracku reports on the 2026 change.

How to plan each attempt

Test 1: your real attempt

Prepare for Test 1 as if it's your only test. Students who treat it as "practice" relax in preparation, and often relax in the exam too. A strong Test 1 also turns Tests 2 and 3 into bonus attempts, which takes the pressure off for the rest of December.

  • Fix your section order and timing plan in mocks before Test 1.
  • Aim for 48 to 52 attempts at 90 percent accuracy. The SNAP 45+ guide shows the section-by-section split.
  • Note which section felt slowest as soon as you walk out.

Test 2: fix one thing

Test 2 is where the system pays off. You now know what the real paper feels like. In the days between Test 1 and Test 2:

  • Take two SNAP mocks.
  • Spend most of your practice on the single slowest or weakest section from Test 1.
  • Keep everything else steady. Don't rebuild your whole strategy in six days.

Test 3: only if you need it

If your best score after two tests already meets your target, skip Test 3 or treat it as a calm bonus attempt. If you're still below target, run the same cycle again: two mocks, one section fixed, same plan.

After Test 1, your score is... What to do next
45 or more You've likely reached the SIBM Pune range. Take Test 2 calmly as a bonus.
40 to 44 Fix your weakest section and push hard in Test 2.
Below 40 Two mocks, review your attempt count and accuracy, then Test 2 with a tighter plan.

What to do between tests

The gaps between SNAP tests are usually short, about a week. Use each gap as a mini-cycle.

Day in the gap Task
Day 1 Rest. Note your weakest section and slowest question type.
Day 2 Targeted practice on that section
Day 3 Full 60-minute SNAP mock and analysis
Day 4 Targeted practice, speed drills (mental maths, one-liner reasoning)
Day 5 Second mock and analysis
Day 6 Light practice, word list, Ethics rules
Test day Same section order and timing as Test 1

What score should you target?

SNAP marks for each percentile move with the paper, so aim for a range.

SNAP score (out of 60) Approximate percentile (SNAP 2025)
45 to 50+ About 99
40 to 44 About 95 to 98
35 to 39 About 88 to 94

For SIBM Pune, students usually aim for a 98+ percentile. A best-test score of 45 or more is a comfortable target. For SCMHRD, around 96 percentile has been the expected range.

Your SNAP score is only half the result

At SIBM Pune, the final selection gives your SNAP score 50 percent of the weight, the Personal Interview 40 percent and the Group Exercise 10 percent (SIBM Pune admission criteria, 2026). Your 10th, 12th and graduation marks don't appear in that formula.

So once your best SNAP score is in the target range, the next biggest lever is the interview. Start PI preparation right after your last test instead of taking a fourth week of mocks.

Common mistakes with the three attempts

  1. Treating Test 1 as practice. You lose your best-prepared attempt.
  2. Booking only one test to save money. One bad day then decides your SNAP result.
  3. Changing the whole strategy between tests. Change one thing per test.
  4. Taking Test 3 with a comfortable score and nothing to fix. You'll gain little.
  5. Forgetting programme registration. Taking SNAP doesn't register you for Symbiosis programmes. Register for each programme on the SNAP portal before its deadline.

Frequently asked questions

How many times can I take SNAP?

You can take SNAP up to three times in one admission cycle. Symbiosis considers your highest score from the tests you take. Each test needs its own registration and fee.

Does Symbiosis consider the best score or the average score in SNAP?

The best score. Lower scores from your other tests don't count against you, so a weak first attempt doesn't hurt if a later test goes well.

Should I book all three SNAP tests?

Booking at least two is a good idea, so one bad day doesn't decide your result. Book the third if the fee isn't a problem for you, or if your mocks are still below your target.

What is a good SNAP score for SIBM Pune?

A best-test score of about 45 or more out of 60 has matched roughly the 99th percentile in recent years, which puts you in the SIBM Pune range. The exact cutoff changes each year, so check SIBM's admission updates.

Do academics matter in SNAP admissions?

At SIBM Pune, the 2026 selection formula gives 50 percent weight to SNAP, 40 percent to the Personal Interview and 10 percent to the Group Exercise, with no weight for past academic marks. Other Symbiosis institutes use similar but not identical formulas.
